My role in this project began conducting research on Tudor style interior architecture as well as developing a more contemporary take on it. I conceived of the range hood grotto, a key piece of the project. I designed the island as a hybrid of several inspiration images as well as some functional needs voiced by the homeowners along with many, many other creative contributions. At one point I took pictures of the homeowner’s current kitchen and systematically reassigned the contents of each drawer to a new drawer in their new home to ensure the owners were comfortable.
I also produced the vast majority of the actual parts in our software, I engineered some of the most difficult objects, notably the library alcove (an entirely wooden room). I generated every set of drawings both for the homeowners and for the shop—communicating and managing the expectations of each one-of-a-kind piece. I also managed the parts through production, sometimes walking out to the shop and organizing and labeling parts myself just to make sure I was setting my team up for success. I worked closely with each of our craftsman to ensure they too were seeing the vision and producing at their highest level.
